What is a vintage kilo sale?
A vintage kilo sale is a fresh way to approach shopping for pre-loved clothing. Instead of paying per item for your vintage goods, you pay for the weight of your selections.
Usually set up in a large accessible location (our 6,500 sq ft handpick warehouse in this instance), a kilo sale comprises of thousands of items, accessible via racks, cages or storage bins. Customers are able to browse, and hopefully find, their dream piece or an amazing steal, whilst rummaging through these items.
One of the most appealing features of a vintage kilo sale is not knowing what you will find. The next piece you touch on the rail could just be your next favourite item in your wardrobe. You just never know. The thrill is in the hunt after all! As an added bonus, items will usually be replenished throughout the day, so you may just find your vintage grail the second time around, if not the first.
Once you have selected your items and are ready to pay, the items will be weighed (prices can vary depending on the category). Usually, the cost of stock at a vintage kilo sale will come to around £15/£20 per kilo (which is definitely a bargain!)
A vintage clothing sale also brings together like-minded individuals, who have a passion for vintage clothing and champion sustainable fashion. Attending a kilo sale, or other events alike, will give you the opportunity to also network with people in the vintage scene and help build up contacts. What to expect when attending one of our events?
The first port of call, when attending any of our Cardiff vintage kilo sale events, is to purchase a ticket to gain admission. This can be done via Eventbrite (see events below to be taken to the ticketing page.) On the date of the vintage kilo sale event, entry will begin at the stated time on the ticket. Tickets start for as little as £2.00 per entry, with an additional early bird purchasing option available (should you wish to beat the crowds.)

How much can I expect to pay per item?
The price you will pay per item will mainly depend upon the price per kilo (which usually sits at around £15/20 per kilo.)
In the example of it being £20 per kilo, a t-shirt will usually weigh approximately 200g (0.2kg), so on this basis, you would pay £4.00 (or £3.00 if it was £15 per kilo.)
In another example, a sweatshirt will typically weigh 0.5kg, so a sweatshirt would cost between £7.50-£10.00 (depending on the price per kilo.)

However, we promise to try and stock as many items as possible, offering a wide array of brands and categories, ensuring there will be something for everyone.

Our top tips for attending our Cardiff vintage kilo sale
- Arrive early - The early bird gets the worm! The same can be said for vintage kilo sales. Arriving early and being one of the first to enter, will ensure you get first pick on items. This vastly increases your chances of grabbing a bargain or finding a vintage treasure!
- BYOB (Bring your own bag) - Bringing your own bag can save you money on having to purchase an additional one at the checkout. If you are planning on buying a lot, be sure to bring an adequate bag, to be able to fit all of your purchases inside.
- Prepare for a bit of chaos - Seasoned kilo sale attendees will now be used to the hustle and bustle of these events, however, for any new attendees, it can sometimes be overwhelming. Remember, these events will bring many other vintage enthusiasts and resellers, who are all hoping to grab as many bargains as they can. So expect a little bit of pandemonium. We recommend just keeping your eyes on the prize, focusing on what you are looking for specifically and being assertive with your choices. All whilst being friendly and courteous of course!
- Weigh your items regularly - Make use of the scales dotted around the kilo sale to keep track of your rough spending. Doing so will ensure you do not go over budget. To be extra prepared for a kilo sale, you can weigh your own items of clothing at home, to give yourself a good idea of how much a piece of clothing should roughly cost.
